Maxim Malkin

Maxim is a very bright, curious and kind 7 year old boy from Russia. However, he is not living a healthy life – he is suffering from hyperkinetic cerebral palsy, a diagnosis he received shortly after birth. His condition is the result of a severe birth trauma. Unfortunately, his father gave up on the child and the boy is being raised by a single mom.

Long treatments and painful procedures that basically deprived Maxim of a happy childhood have paid off: Maxim is able to sit up and crawl independently, walk holding on to Mom’s hand, as well as handle a pen and a spoon by himself.

Oxana, Maxim’s Mother, is grateful that her boy is completely healthy mentally and that he has such a kind little heart. Maxim craves new knowledge, is curious about his surroundings, reads books and encyclopedias, and makes friends very easily.

This year Maxim starts first grade at a special education school. There will be a lot of work to maximize his potential taking into account his condition. To make learning easier, the family would like to raise funds for special equipment that will help Maxim adapt his special body to functioning in this world. The child needs a wheelchair, specialty seating, braces, and other equipment.
